Jan has been a trainer for 18 years. She is dedicated to teaching both the dog and their owner. She focuses strongly on building a relationship based on trust and understanding.

Jan has been a trainer for 18 years. She is dedicated to teaching both the dog and their owner. She focuses strongly on building a relationship based on trust and understanding.
After training for several years, it became obvious to Jan that traditional methods of training could be greatly improved upon. She then sought advanced training methods which focused on relationship development between dog and owner.
In 2010, Jan joined Freedom Dogs - a San Diego based Specialty Service Dog organization. This organization is devoted to serving wounded members of the military who are adapting to their return to civilian life. In this program, she became a Certified Specialty Service Dog Trainer. The training methods she uses are based on operant conditioning, classical conditioning and the concepts of clicker training.
She further specializes in:
- Manners and obedience training in both home and out in public
- Behavior modification
- Working with puppies - which is a great time to prevent future issues
- Day training - in your home or out in public, when you don't have time to train
Jan takes a holistic approach with practical problem solving skills, enthusiasm and kindness.
Jan is a proud KPA and a Karen Pryor Certified Training Partner. She s also an AKC CGC Evaluator. Jan is also certified in Doggie and Me Pet First Aid and is a certified trainer for Specialty Service Dogs.
